Our Story

Folk Audio is an owner-operated recording studio founded by Al Folk. It started with a simple passion: as a drummer, Al was mesmerized by studio gear, constantly asking questions, and learning from mentors.

After deciding to build a private studio, the vision expanded. We converted a separate building on our property in northern Ross County, Ohio, into what is now Folk Audio. Our mission is simple: stay true to old-school methods of recording.

We pride ourselves on realizing the artist's vision naturally, avoiding over-processed sample replacements in favor of capturing genuine, organic performances. Nestled in a quiet, distraction-free environment, we offer a relaxing atmosphere tailored for creativity.

Artist Stories

Hear from the bands and musicians who have trusted us with their vision.

"Folk Audio gave us the organic sound we were searching for. Al's focus on getting the right tones going into the SSL console made our record sound massive, warm, and undeniably authentic. Staying on-site meant we could just focus entirely on the music."
